How to Choose a 3d Printer

The latest trend in creating and printing is “3D printing”. It has taken the world by the storm and is getting very famous among people. By using this technology, you can produce models and objects sitting in your room. All you need is a 3D printer. It is a type of a printer which gives you the pleasure to make physical objects from a three-dimensional digital model.

So if you are planning to buy a 3D printer in the USA and all other countries, we are here for your guidance.

You should look for following features in a 3D printer and then choose the one:

PRINT RESOLUTION:

It refers to the quality of printing or to make it easy for you, it can be described as the number of particles in a specific area. The print resolution of the printer determines the complexity and quality of the printer objects. At smaller resolution, you can expect fast results and at higher resolution, it is going to take more time. You should consider the resolution of the printer before buying and choose the one according to your requirements. If you want it for general use at home then you can go with medium resolution but if it is for your work and clients then it is always better to invest more and buy the one with better print resolution.

PRINT SPEED:

3D printing is not like conventional printing. It takes time to produce three-dimensional objects, especially when you want the best quality. Typically there are 3D printers with following speed range:

  • 40-50 mm/s
  • 80-100 mm/s
  • 150 mm/s

Speed is important but you cannot deny the fact that slow speed gives more quality as far as there is a case of 3D printers. So don’t get too impressed by the speed of printers. Also, look for the quality of printing and then select the one accordingly.

CLOSED FRAME:

There are two options in printers i.e. open and closed frames. Although an open frame provides more visibility closed frame is a better option. Especially if you are having children or pets around then closed frame 3D printer is definitely a better option. It also reduces the noise and Oder if any. Also, another advantage of a closed frame is that it maintains a constant temperature inside which gives better products.

VOLUME OF PRINTING AREA:

Another important thing to consider while buying a 3D printer is its volume.  It is necessary because this is going to determine the size of your printer objects. Therefore large built volume provides more area for your creativity. It is always better to prefer a three-dimensional printer with a large built volume.

QUIET PRINTING:

Although 3D printers don’t make very large noise still they can be annoying. If you are working or taking rest in the same room then it can be disturbing to bear a constant noise even if it is little noise. Nowadays there are 3D printers which are barely audible so you do not have to bear a constant printing noise. Hence while choosing a 3D printer, it is better to opt for such printers which make minimum noise.

AUTO POWER OFF AND RESUME:

Another important feature to look for is auto power off. This allows you to walk away safely when printing is finished and also saves energy hence it is always better to have such additional features. Also, these models feature a power off resumes which automatically continue printing when power back after an accidental power outage. This gives you more comfort and less worry. You just start the project and don’t have to run to on or off the printer.

ULTRABASE PLATFORM:

Platform or bed of a 3D printer is the area where the object is being printed i.e. created. The size of your platform determines the size of your products. There are heated and non-heated platforms which depend upon the type of filament you are using. The best option in this regard is to always look for an ultra base platform. This type of platforms provides excellent adhesion and easy to pick up your object after it gets cool.

FILAMENT DIAMETER:

The choice of filament’s diameter depends upon your 3D printer.  There are certain options available in the diameter of filament that you are going to use for creating your products. Most of the models of 3D printers accept only one type of the diameter but there are also such printers which accept both sizes i.e. 1.75 mm and 3 mm. It is better to have such more accepting three-dimensional printers because this will give you a wide range of options for choosing the filament.

TYPES OF 3D PRINTERS

There are many types of three-dimensional printers available in the market. These differ according to their printing techniques and end product results. For your information we are going to enlist the types of 3D printers:

  • Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)
  • Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
  • Stereo Lithography(SLA)
  • Selective Laser Melting (SLM)
  • Electron Beam Melting (EBM)
  • Laminated Object Manufacturing (LOM)
  • Material Jetting (MJ)
  • Binder Jetting (BJ)

Out of all these Fused Deposition Modelings (FDM), Printers are the most common option for 3D desktop printing in the United States of America. These are also the least expensive and better for use at home. They also easy to operate. Another great option for home users is Stereo Lithography (SLA)  printers. These printers provide high precision and an ultra-smooth finishing touch. All other options are better choices for professionals.

You can choose the one according to the needs and requirements of the products. Just don’t forget these above mentioned important features to choose the best three-dimensional printer in 2019. We are hoping that you will find our article helpful in this regard.
