Laura Trott, born on December 7, 1984, is a British Conservative Party politician. In the 2019 general election, she was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sevenoaks, becoming the first woman to represent the constituency.
Since October 2022, she has held the position of Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions. Before her political career, Trott worked as a Portland Communications partner and special adviser.
She grew up in Oxted, Surrey, England, and attended Oxted School. Trott pursued her studies in history and economics at Pembroke College, Oxford, and later worked as a strategy consultant at Booz & Company. Additionally, she serves as an ambassador for the Sutton Trust, an educational charity.

Laura Trott is married to Bahador “Bids” Mahvelati, who is a partner at the professional services firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Together, they have three children.
Trott’s political journey commenced as a special adviser to former Prime Minister David Cameron, focusing on environmental policy. She later joined the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, where she played a key role in developing the 25-Year Environment Plan.
In the 2019 General Election, Trott was successfully elected to Parliament. Since then, she has actively participated in several committees, including the Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs Committee, and the Science and Technology Committee.
Beyond her political endeavors, Trott has a passion for cycling and has previously competed in national-level races.
