On their Netflix shows, Queer Eye, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, and Jonathan Van Ness assist individuals, referred to as “heroes,” in transforming different aspects of their lives. Beyond the camera, the members of the new Fab Five have fascinating personal stories, and the public’s curiosity about their dating lives is as significant as their successful series.
In the reboot of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which debuted in February 2018, Berk specializes in interior design, Brown focuses on cultural aspects, France assists the heroes with their style, Porowski imparts knowledge about food and wine, and Van Ness specializes in grooming.
The Fab Five aspires to help the people they work with become the best versions of themselves, and they strive to embody this principle in their own lives. They have exemplified this throughout the years by sharing their journeys with their respective boyfriends and husbands.
Bobby Berk
When discussing the dating lives of the Queer Eye cast, we cannot overlook Berk’s heartwarming love story. The interior designer began a relationship with oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dewey Do in May 2004, shortly after Berk relocated to New York City.
In a delightful surprise, Do propose to Berk in June 2012, and they swiftly tied the knot. Reflecting on the proposal, Berk jokingly told People magazine in 2018, “He’s very lucky that I said yes!”
However, their wedding was not legally valid due to a paperwork oversight by their officiant. Berk shared the amusing anecdote, revealing, “We discovered at the end of the year that we had never received our marriage certificate. Technically, we weren’t married.”
To rectify the situation and ensure proper filing of their taxes, the couple hurriedly rushed to the courthouse in downtown New York City to legally wed before the year’s end.
In 2019, Berk expressed to People his and Did’s desire to have children within the next five years or when the whirlwind of Queer Eye had settled down a bit. They envisioned expanding their family when the timing felt more suitable.
Tan France
Regarding the romantic life of the Queer Eye cast, Tan France has kept his love life quite straightforward. After meeting on a dating site, he tied the knot with illustrator Rob France in 2007. They knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together from the beginning.
“It was simply a matter of, ‘You know we’re going to get married one day, right?'” the interior designer shared on a 2018 episode of Queer Eye. “We had already agreed that it would happen… and we set the date!”
In July 2021, Frances welcomed their first child, a son named Ismail, and they have another child on the way through a surrogate, expected to arrive in the summer of 2023.
“Becoming fathers has brought us immense joy, and we are thrilled to expand our family with the support of our amazing surrogate,” the judge of Next in Fashion expressed during an episode of the Milk Drunk podcast in April 2023.
Karamo Brown
Brown discovered he had a son when he received a legal summons for child support when the boy, Jason, was 10 years old. The child resulted from Brown’s relationship in high school before publicly identifying as gay at 16. Brown took full custody of Jason and adopted his younger brother, Chris.
In May 2018, the former cast member of “The Real World” engaged his long-time partner, Ian Jordan. However, Brown proposed again in May 2020 but later revealed in September that he and Jordan had called off the wedding and ended their nine-year relationship.
Brown shared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in September 2020 that they had tried virtual counseling and made various efforts to salvage their relationship. Still, he eventually realized that his happiness was a priority. As a result, he made the difficult decision to break up.
In July 2021, Brown made his new relationship with photographer Carlos Mendel public on Instagram. By April 2023, the host of the talk show “Karamo” was ready to marry Mendel. Speaking to Page Six, he expressed his desire to marry Mendel without pressuring him, subtly dropping hints about his intentions.
Jonathan Van Ness
The romantic lives of the Queer Eye cast can get a little complicated at times. In December 2018, Jonathan Van Ness went through a public breakup with Wilco Froneman just three months after confirming their relationship.
To share the news, Van Ness took to Instagram, mentioning “cheaters never prosper” to his followers. In an Instagram Story, Van Ness added, “Wilco is a good person, and sometimes things don’t work out. Please don’t attack him.”
However, in December 2020, Van Ness returned to Instagram with exciting news. They revealed that they had tied the knot with Mark Peacock earlier in the year.
Van Ness lovingly referred to the British model as their “best friend” and “a loving partner.” It was later disclosed that Van Ness and Peacock began dating while the hairstylist was on a comedy tour in London.

Antoni Porowski
Antoni Porowski has experienced relationships with both men and women. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in 2019, he shared, “I never really had a traditional coming out. I dated a man, then I dated women for several years, and then I was in a relationship with a man.”
When Queer Eye first aired, Porowski was in a relationship with art director Joey Krietemeyer. In an interview with Vulture, Porowski described their bond as “basically married.” However, in August 2018, after seven years together, Porowski and Krietemeyer ended their relationship on amicable terms.
Shortly after, in September 2018, Porowski began dating former Flipping Out star, Trace Lehnhoff. Their connection initially sparked through direct messages on social media.
However, in August 2019, news broke that Porowski and Lehnhoff had decided to go their separate ways, with sources stating that their relationship had run its course.
In July 2019, Porowski started dating strategic planner Kevin Harrington. Due to the pandemic, Porowski and Harrington decided to move in together rather quickly, and they also began fostering a dog in the spring of 2020. The chef joyfully announced his engagement to Harrington on Instagram in November 2022.
